Sow seeds to reap God's Superabundance! Luke 5:4-11
Peter, James, and John spent the entire night fishing but caught nothing. They exhausted all their natural resources, and were tired and discouraged. they had left their boats and were washing their nets when they had an encounter with Jesus that radically changed the entire course of their lives.
The people who had come to hear Jesus and to be healed of their diseases were pressing in in around him until there was no room. Jesus got into Peter's boat, and asked Peter to take the boat out a small distance from the shore so the he could teach from the boat.
After Jesus finished teaching, He told Peter, "Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught." Jesus knew Peter needed a miracle and challenged him to take a step of faith by launching out into the deep.
Peter told Jesus, "Master we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets." (Luke 5:5
NIV). Peter was so discouraged he no doubt thought his situation was hopeless. But, he decided to take Jesus at His Word. He took a step of faith, and launched out into the deep.
As soon as they cast down their nets, they had such an abundance of fish that their nets broke. Imagine the look of surprise on Peter's face when he saw this great multitude of fish! They had to call their partners in another boat to come and help them. There were so many fish, their boats began to sink!
Peter, James and John were so overwhelmed by this great miracle when their boats reached shore, they left everything...their boats...nets and the great draught of fish to follow Jesus! They had a revelation that day of the unlimited resources of heaven!
Jesus intervened in Peter's circumstances and manifested His supernatural provision by giving him this miraculous draught of fish. As Peter acted in faith upon Christ's Word, he not only received a SUPERABUNDANCE! This miraculous draught of fish is an example of the supernatural provision and abundance God will manifest in meeting your financial needs.
Regardless of how hopeless or desperate your circumstances, you must be willing to "launch out into the deep." You must be willing to take Christ at His Word and act in faith! Christ promised, "Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom." (Luke 6:38
).
