Call to Worship: We light the second candle in the Advent wreath today as a sign of hope. We light this candle in the hope of those exiled in Babylon. To them God spoke comforting words of a coming leader who would bring about a peaceable kingdom. We light the candle in the hope of John the Baptist. he preached to both affluent leaders and poor outcasts that God's coming messiah would judge people, not by their deeds or their heritage, but rather by their heards. We light this candle in the hope of th eearly church. They experenced the Christ first hand and learned that the Christian community and the gospel were for all people, even in their diversity.
