But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
Lighting of the Advent Candle: Marcellus & Lorraine Dent
Today we light the third Advent candle. We light this candle as a sign of joy. Our joy is founded in the good news that God's love is transforming. Where we see only wilderness and barren land, God sees the potenal for growth and blossoming. Our Joy is nourished by the good news that God's love is suprising. When the possibilities for new live and faith seem exhaused, God creates suprising new option that energize us. Our joy is completed by the good news that God's love is equalizing. While those who suffer appear to go unnoticed, God transposes the established order, placing the downtrodden in the position of honor.
